Mario Vitale is a senior audio designer and sound engineer with 20 years of experience building the sounds of worlds that don't exist.
For 12 years at Cryptic Studios, he shaped the sonic identity of Neverwinter and Star Trek Online across hundreds of content updates, expansions and live events. On Neverwinter, he developed the creature language of the Chult dinosaurs, guided leitmotif-driven music direction for major expansions, and built environmental audio systems that made each zone feel like a place rather than a level. On Star Trek Online, he worked within one of science fiction's most iconic soundscapes, balancing franchise authenticity with the demands of modern, high-fidelity game audio for a live player base measured in the millions.
Before games, he spent a decade in Hollywood as an assistant music editor and sound editor on major studio productions including Marvel's The Avengers and Thor, Universal's Public Enemies and A Nightmare on Elm Street, Disney's Miracle and New Line's Elf. That editorial foundation shaped the precision, pacing and storytelling instincts that continue to define his work in interactive audio.
Across both industries, the goal has remained the same: make the world feel real.
